Mallakhamb, a traditional sport and ancient form of sharir sadhana (physical discipline), originated in the Indian subcontinent, with historical references dating back to the Chalukya period in 1186 AD. More than just a sport, Mallakhamb is an advanced full-body workout that combines strength, agility, and discipline. Its revival and widespread recognition are largely due to the tireless efforts of Shri Yogesh Malviya from Ujjain, Madhya Pradesh—the first Dronacharya Awardee in the indigenous sport of Mallakhamb. Through his dedication, he has trained over 10,000 players across India, producing numerous national and international athletes and securing Mallakhamb’s place on the global stage. Despite facing many hardships, Shri Malviya continues to train students at Lokmanya Tilak Sanskritik Nyas and Bharat Mata Mandir in Ujjain, leaving an indelible mark on Indian sports and cultural heritage.
