Runa Rizvi, a serene and powerful voice in the world of music, is a Sufi, Ghazal & Fusion Artiste. Equally skilled in the contemporary Bollywood industry, Runa has worked with noted artists like AR Rahman, Sanjay Leela Bhansali & Sandesh Shandilya for mainstream projects.
The daughter of Ghazal Maestro Ustad Rajkumar Rizvi & classical exponent Smt. Indrani Chatterjee, Runa belongs to the Kalavant Gharana & is trained extensively in Indian classical music and Ghazals, Thumris, Sufiyana Kalams, Folk & Fusion music. Her Love for Jazz can also be seen in her contemporay improvisations.
Performing since the age of 6, she has grown to be a true versatile artist and a true cosmopoltian in nature. Carrying the heritage of Ghazals ahead, Runa finds her peace in Sufi kalams by Sufi mystic poets.
Winner of Idea Big Rising Star Award, Runa has also been recognised as the young Maestro in Ghazal & Sufi by the Indian Music Academy in the precense of former President Sri Abdul Kalam. She has to her credit shared the stage with legends and exponents like Ustad Mehndi Hassan, Jagjit Singh, Pt. Hari Prasad Chaurasia, Ustad Sultan Khan, Pankaj Udhas, Anup Jalota, Talat Aziz, U Srinivas, Selva Ganesh, and Ravi Chary.
