Erica Kaufman, MFA, E-RYT500+, is the founder of Lila Yoga and the owner of Lila Yoga Studios in PA, USA. Influenced by JidduKrishnamurti’s philosophy and Krishnamacharya’s teachings, Lila Yoga® is a traditional Hatha Yoga practice, with Raja (philosophical), and Bhakti (devotional) Yoga integrated together. Practicing asanas to cleanse & balance the body, and to understand the mind, Lila Yoga explores the possibility of living in brilliant ease by rejuvenating Self-trust and love, awakening prana within the body, and uniting with universal currents of energy around us.
Erica began her life with yoga at the age of 9 and has continued as a devoted practitioner ever since. In the lineage of Krishnamacharya, her mother is her life-long yogacharya. Teaching since 1984, Erica holds the highest level of Registry with Yoga Alliance. Her Lila Yoga classes and expertise are awarded by Yoga Journal’s signature Karma Credit and featured in numerous publications including The Times of India, DNA India Bangalore Newspaper, Centered Magazine, and Center Daily Times, along with European and American TV for her work with Lila Yoga, Reconciliation, Creativity, Mindfulness and Contact Improvisation.
Erica is on faculty at Shambhala Mountain Center in Colorado, USA and at Penn State University. She directed the Lila Yoga Institute in Colorado USA from 2000 to 2006 and now Lila Yoga Studios in Pennsylvania USA where she teaches ancient wisdom as a daily practice. Erica is dedicated to wellness and appreciation of life; she trains Lila Yoga teachers and members of the community in the name of living with daring joy, love, ease and respectful strength. She teaches both a one year and a two year teacher training program along with daily classes open to all. As a mentor to yoga teachers, aspirants, and community members alike, Erica tours the USA, Europe, Israel and India teaching seminars on Lila Yoga, Movement Improvisation, Mindfulness and Contact Improvisation.
