Born and raised in Haridwar, Yoga Guru Surakshit Goswami is a leading practitioner and teacher of the ancient science. A gold-medalist, he has a doctorate degree in yoga from Gurukul Kangri University, Haridwar, and was a member of its yoga faculty for over eight years. His dissertation was a comparative study of Patanjalyoga and the Nathyoga examining the similarities and differences between them.
Surakshitji joined The Times Group, India’s largest media conglomerate, as an adviser and yoga expert in 2004. He has since published over 800 columns and articles on various aspects of yoga & spirituality in the group’s publications, including the The Times of India, Navbharat Times, Maharashtra Times, Sandhya Times and The Speaking Tree.
A regular on Indian television, over 400 episodes of his lectures and yoga demonstrations have been televised in India and abroad. He has also conducted and led over 250 yoga camps in various Indian cities, and is a much sought after organiser of yoga and spirituality workshops for business corporations.
‘Pran Oorja’, a unique package of yoga techniques devised by Dr Goswami to prevent the onset of lifestyle illness and stress in young corporate executives, has been published as a book and is also available in DVD format. He has also brought out audio CDs and DVDs on effective Pranayama methods.
After extensive research, he has prepared an order in which yogic practices should be performed and has put these yogic asanas in a book form — ‘Yoga For A pain-Free Back’ — so that more and more people can benefit from it.
