Akira Watamoto’s childhood is steeped in yoga as he took it up at a very young age. Blessed with such a childhood, he naturally evolved into teaching in 1994.
He has learnt various type of yoga and theorized his original Chakra and Bandha system, which advocates the theory of body-mind-relationship and asana alignment. His yoga style is an integrated style based on meditation with bandha.
Currently he teaches at Watamoto Yoga Studio, while training future yoga instructors, has authored more than 40 books, several magazine articles and made numerous TV appearances to teach and promote the benefits of yoga in Japan. Such contributions have brought about greater understanding and acceptance of Yoga in Japan as its popularity has soared in recent years.
